This month Gym Source is proud to shine the spotlight on our Southampton store manager Randy King, who has been a part of the Gym Source team for 22 years.

Years with Gym Source: 22
Quote: “Richard Miller has provided great support to me through the years and a strong vision for the store, and I very much appreciate that.”
Randy first came to Gym Source after he struck up a conversation with one of our commercial sales rep in the NY City location. He realized they had a lot of shared interests, including fitness and recreation, and he felt a desire to explore what the fitness industry had to offer.
Randy still calls his original store location home, now as the store manager, but that hasn’t stopped him from exploring all that Gym Source has to offer. “I have trained in every facet of the business from sales, service, delivery and store management,” Randy says.
One benefit of having a long tenure at Gym Source, and the opportunity to personally experience so many different areas of the business, is that Randy has visibility to all the different fitness industry trends. He has seen it all; from equipment becoming more technological advanced to advancements in the areas of design and service.
“Trends never seem to leave Gym Source behind, we are always on the forefront of design, development, and support of the latest cutting edge equipment because of the strong relationships we have with our equipment partners,” he boasts.
Additionally, he feels that his Southampton store location has prepared him to be very versatile when providing fitness equipment solutions that address a variety of customer needs.
Southampton and East End of Long Island are unique areas with a rich history and local culture, so his approach to the sales process is to treat everyone special and focus on their specific needs. He also points out that strong teamwork with his fellow Southampton equipment expert, Larry Lerner, contributes to customers receiving well-rounded fitness solutions.
When asked about his number one rule of advice when starting the process of designing a home gym he answered - plan for the future.
“You never know if you are going to need room to incorporate additional equipment,” he says. “One thing that is often overlooked in the planning process is the strategy, and benefit, of utilizing your wall space as well as your floor space.” His 22 years of experience has taught him that you can’t predict the next fitness or equipment trend, and it is important to have the freedom to incorporate something you really want in the future.
Randy King upholds the Gym Source values of our equipment experts and has learned to celebrate the variety of his clients’ fitness needs. Working in an area that has anyone from business owners, young parents, to entertainment and sports stars visiting the store has prepared him to approach every customer with a focus on their specific goals
