At Gym Source, we value the expertise of personal trainers. That’s why we regularly spotlight local trainers who have a passion for fitness. This month we are featuring Brian Lederman, owner and trainer at Dendron Body Work, an in-home personal training solution with trainers in NY, CT and FL.

Over his 20-year career, Founder Brian Lederman has cultivated a model of training that has proven to deliver continued results to his clients. While each client has individualized needs this formula helps his team of trainers stay cohesive and thorough.

“I call it the 4 quadrant system.  This formula basically breaks the 60 minute session into four quarters: active stretching, warm up circuit promoting metabolic conditioning, circuit of 3-4 multi joint resistance exercises and 3-4 smaller exercises focusing on balance and stability.”

Some of his favorite pieces of equipment to incorporate into the before mentioned include the Tuff Stuff 6 pack trainer because of its “versatile cable system and ability to fit into most of his clients homes.” Additionally, he likes to bring along the TRX suspension training system, kettle bells, medicine balls, resistance bands and dumbbells to most training sessions. “After my client’s begin really embracing fitness centric lifestyles they typically start to build out their own home gyms, but I always travel with some fitness accessories to diversify workouts,” he explained. He chimed in,

“of course, I would suggest clients invest in a cardio piece like a treadmill or bike in addition to a strength training piece. However, you don’t need me to watch you run for thirty minutes. I work with clients to incorporate metabolic conditioning. Instead, I’ll have them do something like sprint for two minutes on the treadmill then incorporate burpees, lunges and kettle bell swings, rest and repeat. That’s much more stimulating anyways, right?!”

In the NY, CT or FL area? Contact a Dendron Body Work trainer by visiting their website or connect with them on Instagram.

Not in the areas they service? Don’t worry they have some advice for you as you search for the right personal trainer.

“In addition to ensuring a trainer has the appropriate certifications, don’t just trust any online review or referral,” suggests Brian.

“A vetted referral coming from Gym Source or another reputable source is much more trustworthy than potentially made-up reviews online. Don’t be afraid to interview a trainer. If you don’t feel comfortable after the first session, continue looking. A fitness training relationship is as much about the emotional and psychological quotient as it is about the workouts.”
