Scott Marlowe is the owner of ResultsNYC, a personal training studio serving clients in NYC and Connecticut. He became a personal trainer 27 years ago when he was asked to train the owner of the NYC gym he attended, Pumping Iron.
“I told the owner I wasn’t a trainer,” he admits, “although I had some knowledge and looked the part. But when he told me he needed my help and there was no one else he could trust, I agreed. The next thing I knew, I was taking courses and building a business and that was 27 years ago!”
Most of Scott’s formal courses came from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and he earned his stripes as a competitive bodybuilder. Through his training and experience, he found that the combination of sound basic movements coupled with a strong nutritional plan and intelligent cardio is really what works for him and his clients.
“The best part of my job is getting a new client and opening their eyes up to a wonderful new world of fitness and nutrition,” Scott says. “I like watching them reach their goals, even ones they did not know they had.” Scott’s greatest success story is a former client who was the vice president of Tommy Boy records. “She lost 90 pounds training 6 days a week, and I comped her the 7th day because she worked so hard.”
Scott says his favorite piece of fitness equipment is the Hoist Squat Rack with all the attachments. He explains: “because anything can be done with a squat rack if you are creative and inventive.”
