If you’re on track for the corner office (or want to be) don’t neglect your workout. Staying fit is now considered an increasingly important requirement for senior management success. In fact, new research suggests that being overweight affects an executive's perceived leadership ability. Executives with higher BMI (body mass index) readings were perceived as less-effective overall in the workplace, according to data compiled by the Center for Creative Leadership.
“A heavy executive is judged to be less capable because of assumptions about how weight affects health and stamina,” says Barry Posner, a leadership professor at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business.
This fitness imperative is relatively new. In the past, successful executives were expected to spend all of their time in the office. Now, they are encouraged to take some time out to stay healthy. Take a look at some of these successful CEO/founder training programs.
