Taking Good Advice to Heart

Heart and Stethoscope

In honor of American Heart Month this February, the American College of Cardiology conducted survey of more than 650 cardiologists—with hopes of understanding how the nation’s cardiologists took their own advice to heart. Eight out of 10 cardiologists reported exercising at least 3-4 times a week, and more than 40% reported exercising 5-7 days a week.

Their motivation? Knowing full-well the physical consequences of a lack of exercise.

"Everyone should strive for normal weight, and if they smoke, seek help and find the motivation to stop," said ACC President William Zoghbi, MD, FACC. "A heart-healthy lifestyle also helps prevent other diseases such as cancer, diabetes and lung disease."
